You know, when I think about Tumblr and Twitter not existing anymore…

I think about what happened the past few days, when the Supernatural fandom came together to save someone’s life. If we hadn’t had Tumblr, and Twitter, to gain the support we did, not only within the fandom, but to cast members, and even OTHER celebrities that heard about it and tweeted/blogged about it to THEIR fans…that wouldn’t have happened. Someone’s life wouldn’t have been saved. THAT is what the government is doing. It isn’t just about fun fandom stuff like photosets and graphics and fanvids and things like that being taken away, it’s that we wouldn’t (and won’t) be able to do things like that for people anymore.

To them, it’s all about stopping people from pirating music and movies, or whatever, but if they’d actually listen to people, maybe they’d see that they’re stopping people from doing so much more than that. They’re stopping people from giving back, and helping people. They’re stopping small businesses, independent musicians, people whose careers THRIVE on social networking to get the word out about their business/work. What are those people going to do once it’s gone? What are charities going to do once it’s gone?
